A Wind Turbine Recipe Book (metric edition)
by Hugh Piggott
65 pp
8.5" x 11"
Coil bound, Printed on a digital press on quality paper, NOT photocopied
NOTE: These are the latest revision, dated October 2008.
These plans represent the latest of Hugh Piggott's wind turbine designs for international turbine builders. ALL PARTS AND DIMENSIONS ARE IN METRIC UNITS, not US inches and feet.
As usual with Hugh, these plans are meticulously presented, with detailed and dimensioned CAD drawings, charts and tables, and photos. There are short, detailed theory discussions at the beginning of each section. This is a great companion to Hugh's Windpower Workshop book, also available from us.
The plans include details for building 6 different sizes of turbines at any of 4 different voltages--the rotor diameters included are 1200mm, 1800mm, 2400mm, 3000mm, 3600mm and 4200mm, and the system voltages included for each of these sizes are 12v, 24v, 48v and 350v.
Sections in the plans cover safety, rotor and blade theory, blade carving, alternator theory, fabricating the alternator, electrical theory, coil winding and connections, mould building, casting a stator, fabricating and casting the magnet rotors, furling system theory, frame fabrication, assembly, blade balancing and alternator testing, connecting to your power system, shunt regulator circuits, wire sizing, guyed tower basics...
