When building axial flux alternators you need to place your magnets on to a steel rotor. It's not difficult to make a wooden template and lay out the slots, but if you want to make it real easy and get perfect results, this Aluminum template will do that and save you time. It's 12" in diameter and fits magnets 12 2" diameter round magnets. It's cut from 1/8" thick Aluminum with a CNC water jet cutter. There are two 1/2" diameter holes in the middle with their centers 4" apart to help align it with the common 4 on 4" bolt pattern. The 2" diameter disk magnets will get you close to 50% more power from your alternator at any given speed than the 1" x 2" rectangular ones. At this time there are no plans for using these larger magnets, but should you care to experiment here is the template!
